The role
As a Platform Intern, you'll work on the core systems that power every Kairos agent — the APIs, background pipelines, multi-tenant data layer, and the infrastructure that keeps voice, chat, and email agents running reliably. This is a hands-on engineering role: you'll ship code to production, not fetch coffee.
What you'll do
- Build and extend backend services — APIs, background jobs, and third-party integrations that power live AI agents
- Work across the stack — Python services and a TypeScript / Next.js dashboard
- Wire up integrations — telephony, messaging, payments, and LLMs
- Improve reliability & observability of multi-tenant systems
- Write tests and join code reviews — we care a lot about correctness
- Own features end-to-end, from idea to production
Our stack
- Backend: Python, FastAPI, async PostgreSQL (row-level security), Procrastinate job queue
- Frontend: TypeScript, Next.js, React
- AI: Claude (via Amazon Bedrock), RAG, and voice (speech-to-text / text-to-speech)
- Infra: AWS (ECS Fargate, S3, CloudFront), Terraform, GitHub Actions CI/CD
What we're looking for
- Solid fundamentals in Python and/or TypeScript / JavaScript
- Familiarity with web frameworks, databases, and REST APIs
- Genuine curiosity about AI agents, LLMs, and building reliable systems around them
- Ability to work independently, ask sharp questions, and own your work
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in CS/engineering — or equivalent self-taught experience
Bonus points
- Side projects, open-source contributions, or anything you've shipped
- Experience with AWS, async programming, or LLM/agent frameworks
- Interest in voice tech, conversational AI, or developer tooling
